The making of jewelry, one bead at a time
I started about 10 years ago making jewelry, and I’ve always have been a crafty person. I decided that I was going to make handmade Christmas ornaments for my co-workers. I went to the store and got wire and beads, and made these abstract, interesting sculptures out of them. When my sister saw them, she told me about this bead store in town. I had never been to one before, just your typical craft stores. I went in there and my jaw dropped. So many stones, colors, shapes, sizes and materials! I had no idea what I was missing out! I’ve been mostly self taught, and I enjoy tutorials on You-Tube.
The thing I love most about jewelry is that when you go to the store, you see lovely jewelry, but they are made of plastic or glass, plated brass, and are usually made in a factory overseas. I have the control to make a better product using real sterling silver, real gemstones, and pick the color and styles myself, usually for half the price.
